Beverly City Resident Information & Updates

BEVERLY CITY, NEW JERSEY

IMPORTANT RESIDENT INFORMATION

Mayor Dr. Gail G. Cook

Ken Gerber, Public Safety Director and Administrator

Dear Residents:

The Beverly City Common Council would like to thank all of the residents of Beverly for their support of our Troops, both past and present, during the Memorial Day ceremonies. We would also like to thank the Parade Participants, Volunteers, Fire, Police, EMS, City & Sewage Authority Employees, as well as all of the Guests who chose Beverly City as their destination for the holiday weekend.

For the first time, Beverly City had musical entertainment at the gazebo on the waterfront.  We hope you enjoyed this new aspect of our celebration, and look forward to the continuation of that new tradition.

We hope that Beverly citizens have noticed our extra efforts to catch up on some long needed maintenance throughout the City, especially the parks, curblines and waterfront areas. This is especially difficult with our limited resources resulting from State budget cuts, but we have heard your feedback and are putting our resources where you want and need them most.

We have also noticed the increased efforts of our local residents and business owners to improve the look of our City.  The extra outside cleanup, pot of flowers and various other efforts are all helping to bring our City back; one property at a time. We strongly encourage you to continue your efforts.  Beautification is contagious and it enhances your property, as well as your property value!

Over the next few months you will see us continuing to clean up your streets & prioritizing your related maintenance concerns.  This includes issuing notices to owners of boats, trailers and unregistered, uninspected vehicles parked throughout the City. Please be aware that these vehicles cannot be parked on City streets and the police/code enforcement officials will be issuing warnings and tickets over the next few months. Beverly City has limited parking available to its homes & businesses. Enforcement of these regulations ensures parking is available for homeowners and patrons, and will help the City maintain an improved appearance.

On a final note: We would like all residents to be aware of an important change in the collection method for grass clippings throughout the City.  Our usual disposal site has determined that residents are mixing trash with their grass clippings on a consistent basis.  The result is that we were barred from disposing of our clippings permanently. The result would have been for the City to subsequently ban the collection of clippings altogether, or allow them to be picked up with the trash which would greatly increase the City’s disposal fees. With the cuts to our budget from the Governor’s office, this increased expense would not have been feasible. Through careful negotiation, we were able to come up with a compromise that will allow the City to dispose of our clippings at the facility once a week.

ALL CLIPPINGS MUST NOW BE DISPOSED OF IN CLEAR PLASTIC TRASH BAGS EVERY MONDAY.

All contents are visible in that manner and the facility will continue to accommodate the needs of our residents. Friday collections will no longer take place.

Please be aware that weather can impact any collection schedule established by the City.  If there is a delay in your collection, please be patient.  Beverly City runs on a very small staff.  Illness, vacation schedules and maintenance issues are just some of the other inconveniences that can cause delays. We do our best to serve everyone in a timely manner, but we are realistic in our expectations and we ask you to be as well.

If you have questions or comments, please feel free to call the office at 609-387-3558 x 100 or 101.
